Storm to host 'fan appreciation night'

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today announced the special features and in-arena highlights that will mark their 2006 "Fan Appreciation Night" this Saturday, Aug. 5 at KeyArena. The final Storm game of the 2006 WNBA regular-season will include free Storm team posters for fans presented by Allstate, Storm-autographed giveaways and a special postgame address to fans from Storm players. The Storm's Fan Appreciation Night game against the Charlotte Sting will begin at 7 p.m.

The first 3,000 fans through the KeyArena doors at the "Fan Appreciation Night" will receive a commemorative Storm team poster courtesy of Allstate. Throughout the game, Storm mascot Doppler and Storm Dance Troupe and Hip Hop Squad members will give away free T-shirts and other autographed items. Several lucky fans will even receive autographed game-worn shoes after the game. Storm players are scheduled to address the team's fans following the game. One lucky fan at KeyArena will win two Southwest Airlines ticket vouchers and two tickets to all three games of the Storm's first-round playoff series during an on-court contest that will take place between the third and fourth quarters.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early on Saturday as the evening features two pregame ceremonies beginning with an "Appreciation Ceremony" for former Storm forward Alicia "Chelle" Thompson, who retired from the WNBA following the conclusion of the team's 2005 WNBA season. Also during pregame, Lauren Jackson, Betty Lennox and Janell Burse will be presented with their 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000-point game balls.

Fans will also have an opportunity on Saturday, to vote for the first-annual "Stormies Best Actress Award." Clips from this season's StormVision feature "Movie Magic" will play throughout the game and fans will be able to vote for the "Best Actress" online at storm.wnba.com. The winner will be announced at the team's first-round WNBA playoff game.

Thursday's Storm game against the Mystics features the "Back to School Night" theme and the first 3,000 fans through the KeyArena doors will receive a Storm draw-string backpack courtesy of Pepsi. All fans are encouraged to bring new school supplies to the arena to support the Storm and World Vision's Back-to-School Supply Drive assisting underprivileged students in need throughout Western Washington. All school supply donations can be deposited on Aug. 3 at KeyArena's east and west doors. Each fan that makes a school supply donation will have the opportunity to win an autographed Storm team ball or a suite to Saturday's "Fan Appreciation Night" game vs. the Sting.

Storm single-game tickets are still available for the two remaining 2006 home games at KeyArena. The Storm are offering special ticket prices for Saturday's "Fan Appreciation Night" game as an incentive for fans to pack the Key one final time this regular season. Fans can purchase $10 Sue Bird tickets, $15 Lauren Jackson tickets and $22 Betty Lennox tickets for Saturday's 7 p.m. battle with the Sting. Tickets for the Storm's first-round 2006 WNBA Playoff game will go on sale at the conclusion of Saturday's matchup against the Sting. Tickets will be available for purchase at the KeyArena box office and online at storm.wnba.com. Also on Saturday, Dixie has provided for fans 3,000 Dixie bath cups with a Pooh or Princes design upon egress of KeyArena.
