The Storm continued their streak of not losing in regulation this past week with a shootout loss to the Erie Otters and a victory against the Barrie Colts and the Ottawa 67's. Another come from behind third period in Erie on Wednesday night forced overtime and allowed the Storm to pick up one point in the 4-3 shootout loss. On Friday night, Thomas McCollum picked up his fourth shutout of the year and second consecutive at home defeating the Eastern Conference leading Barrie Colts 3-0. With his fourth shutout, the rookie netminder tied former Storm goaltenders Ryan MacDonald and Chris Madden's record for most shutouts in one season. Sunday afternoon, the Storm hosted Ottawa for the first and only time this season beating the 67's 5-1. Jamie Arniel scored a pair and Rafael Rotter picked up three points as the Storm won their second in a row and recorded at least one point for the 15th time in their last 16 games. With five of a possible six points this week, the Storm improved their record to 25-15-2-7 and currently sit third in the Midwest Division with 59 points.

Guelph Storm Grand & Toy Player of the Week (Week ending January 28th)

Rafael Rotter - The 19 year old forward was the top Storm point getter this week finishing with two goals and three assists for five points in three games. Through 42 games this season, the Austrian native has 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points. Rotter is currently third on the team in scoring and tied for 5th in powerplay goals. The second year forward started the week with one goal in the 4-3 shootout loss against the Erie Otters on Wednesday. Friday night at home, the 19 year old was awarded the third star of the game and assisted on the second Storm goal of the night in the 3-0 white wash of the Eastern Conference leading Barrie Colts. Sunday afternoon in Guelph, Rotter was named the first star of the game scoring once and recording two assists in the 5-1 Storm win over the Ottawa 67's.

Thursday February 1st: Guelph Storm at London Knights, 7:00 pm

The Storm travel to London on Thursday night to take on the London Knights for the fourth time this season. The Knights have the regular season series lead so far winning 3-1 in London and 4-3 in a shootout in Guelph the following day. The Storm won the last meeting between these two teams back in December when they

beat the division leading Knights 6-3 in London. Mike McLean picked up his second hat trick of the year in the win. After Thursday's game in London, these two clubs meet again in Guelph the following Thursday, February 8th. London currently sits first overall in the OHL with a record of 34-11-1-3 and 72 points.

Friday February 2nd: Guelph Storm at Kitchener Rangers, 7:30 pm

Friday night the Storm travel to Kitchener to face off against the division rival Rangers at 7:30 pm. Playing each other four times this season, the regular season series is tied at two a piece. Guelph won the first match-up at home 5-3 and the Rangers won the next two 3-2 and 8-1. The last meeting between these

two clubs went into overtime when Mike McLean scored the winner to give the Storm a 2-1 win. After Friday's game the Rangers and Storm meet up three more times all in Guelph. With a record of 34-13-1-2 and 71 points, the Rangers sit second, one point behind the league leading London Knights.

Guelph Storm All-Stars

Thomas McCollum and Drew Doughty head to Saginaw on Tuesday to partake in the 2007 OHL All-Star Classic. Saginaw was awarded the honour to host the 2007 OHL All-Star classic, presented locally by the Dow Chemical Company, Meijer, Citizens Bank, Fabiano Brothers Distributing and the Saginaw Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau. McCollum and Doughty will take part in the OHL Skills Competition on Tuesday night at the Dow Centre and then participate in their first OHL All-Star Game on Wednesday January 31st at 7:11 pm.

Thomas McCollum-Guelph Storm Rookie of the Month and nominee for OHL Goaltender of the month

McCollum was named the Guelph Storm's Player, Goaltender and Rookie of the Month after posting a 5-0-1-2 record, along with a 1.22 goals against average and 0.955 save percentage in eight games. The 17-year old netminder also picked up two shutouts and four first star honours in eight starts, surrendering only 10 goals in those games. McCollum's current hot streak has also helped carry the Storm to their recent streak of 13 games without a regulation loss. The Sanborn New York native is now 18-11-2-5 on the season and is currently leading all OHL goaltenders with a 2.13 goals against average, is second in the league with a 0.925 save percentage and tied for second in shutouts with four. McCollum was also recently named to the OHL All-Star Roster and will make his first All-Star game appearance on Wednesday, January 31st when he competes for the Western Conference All-Stars in Saginaw.
