Otters hit the road

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League open a four-game road trip tomorrow (Thursday) when they travel to Windsor to face off against the Spitfires in a 7:30 p.m. start. Friday the Otters head to Plymouth to meet the Whalers (7:05 p.m.) followed by a Saturday game in Saginaw against the Spirit (7:11 p.m.). All three games can be heard live on True Oldies 1330 and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.

The Otters (12-34-1-2) enter weekend action sporting a .500 record over their last six games. Individually speaking, Nick Palmeiri continued his strong play as of late with point in his last four games (3-2-5). Overall, the second-year forward from Clinton, NY, who collected six goals in nine January game, is third in team scoring with a team-high 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points in 40 games.

Windsor enters Thursday's contest with a record of 15-30-1-1 and only two wins in their last 10 games (2-8-0-0). With 146 goals for, the Spitfires have scored the fewest goals in the OHL. Bradley Snetsinger has been red hot for the Spits in the last three games with eight goals and two assists. The fourth year forward leads the Spits in scoring with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points through 42 games.

Friday, the Otters face a Whalers team that has won four straight and eight of their last 10 to improve to 33-12-1-2 heading into the weekend. Former Otters member Sean O'Connor faces his former team for the first time since being dealt to the Whalers at the beginning of January. In eight games since the trade, the 19 year-old forward has collected four goals and six assists for 10 points.

The Otters close out weekend action Saturday in Saginaw where the Spirit head into weekend action with a 29-18-0-2 record. Saginaw boasts two former Otters in Ryan O'Marra and Andrew Hotham. O'Marra has scored seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 16 games since joining the Spirit in late November. Hotham, who was tarded to the Spirit in early January, is not expected to play in the game due to injury.

The Otters close out their four-game road trip Friday, February 9th when they head to Kitchener to take on the Rangers.

The next Otters home games take place Saturday, February 10th and Sunday, February 11th when the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and the London Knights, respectively, visit the Tullio Arena.
