Storm Then Otters for Attack
January 14, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
Three games in three nights for the Owen Sound Attack also means three games against Midwest Division rivals.
Owen Sound travels to Guelph to take on the Storm on Friday, Jan. 15 before returning back to the friendly confines of the Bayshore for a pair of games against the CHL's top ranked Erie Otters.
Friday night's tilt, a 7:30pm puck drop at the Sleeman Centre, marks the 4th game between the Attack and the Storm on the season, with Owen Sound holding a 2-1-0 record in the series.
Despite having the worst record in the OHL, the Storm are on a bit of a roll as of late. Since the hiring of new head coach Jarrod Skalde, the Storm have gone 5-2-1-0, and are now 8-29-3-0 on the year after defeating the London Knights by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night. Guelph is led offensively by James McEwan, whose 28 points in 40 games are just two more than defenseman and Kincardine native Garrett McFadden, who has 26 points on the season.
The Attack will head into the game with more rest than they were expecting. A Tuesday night contest with the Kitchener Rangers was postponed due to inclement weather, giving Owen Sound an extra day of practice before a trio of games on the weekend.
With a record of 17-15-6-2, the Attack enter Friday's tilt having fallen 2-1 in overtime to the Eastern Conference leading Kingston Frontenacs in their last outing.
Josh Sterk continues to set the pace for Owen Sound with 29 points in 37 games, while Captain Santino Centorame has posted nine goals and 25 points on the season.
Fans can listen to Friday's game live on Kia of Owen Sound Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS or watch on Rogers Local 53.
The Attack will then turn around and head home for a pair of games against the Erie Otters, owners of the OHL's top record at 34-5-1-0.
Erie, who plays at home on Thursday night against the Barrie Colts, is led by Arizona Coyotes' draft pick Dylan Strome who has 61 points in 28 games on the year. The Otters also boast the league's top goal scorer, Alex DeBrincat, who has pocketed 34 goals in 33 contests this season.
Game one of the set goes at 7:30pm on Saturday, Jan. 16, while the Attack and Otters wrap up the the weekend at 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon.
Fans are reminded that Sunday's game is an Investment Planning Counsel Sunday, and the first 200 children through the doors will receive a free bag of popcorn. Two lucky kids will also walk away with an autographed Attack jersey, compliments of Investment Planning Counsel.
Tickets for both weekend tilts, and all remaining Attack home games are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomato's, located next to the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. Fans can enjoy half off appetizers and wings by bringing their ticket stub into Joe Tomato's following every Attack home game.
