Tri-City Storm News Release
The Tri-City Storm are in the middle of a four game road swing and will play two road games this weekend in Cedar Rapids & Des Moines, Iowa. Friday's matchup against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will be the first of the season for the Storm. Tri-City will travel to Des Moines on Saturday for their 2nd road game against the Buccaneers this year.
Last weekend, Tri-City split two road games with Fargo, winning the 2nd game 2-1 in Overtime to snap a 6 game winless skid. The Storm's next home game is Friday, March 2nd against Cedar Rapids. The promotion that night is "Pack it in Purple" with the first 1,500 receiving t-shirts.
Team Notes:
- Tri-City is currently 5th in the Western Conference and 5th in the USHL league standings with 50 points. The Storm trails 1st place Omaha by 9 points.
- The Storm penalty kill is 3rd in the USHL at 85.6% this season. Tri-City has allowed the least amount of goals of any team in the league this year, allowing a total of 85 in 41 games played.
- Filip Larsson continues to lead the USHL in several goaltending statistics including; Goals Against Average (1.68), Save Percentage (.940), and Shutouts (6).
- Bryan Yoon and Tyler Madden each recorded assists on both Storm goals scored in Saturday night's 2-1 overtime win.
- Hugo Blixt scored a power play goal for Tri-City on Saturday night and his now tied with teammate Ronnie Attard for the league lead in goals scored by a defenseman (7).
- Hugo Blixt leads all USHL defenseman with 5 power play goals scored this season.
- Jake Crespi scored the overtime game winning goal for Tri-City on Saturday night to snap a 6 game winless streak for the Storm.
- Saturday night's game was the 10th overtime game played by Tri-City this season. Tri-City has 5 overtime wins, 3 shootout wins, 1 overtime loss, and 1 shootout loss this season. When a game has gone past regulation time this season, Tri-City has won it 80% of the time.
