Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

CHICAGO - The USHL has released its selections for players of the week for Week 20, and Dubuque Fighting Saints defenseman Josh Maniscalco (Perkiomenville, Pa./Arizona State) has been named USHL Defenseman of the Week for his offensive and defensive contributions to a weekend in which the Fighting Saints picked up five out of a possible six points over the weekend.

Maniscalco picked up three points on the weekend, all assists. His two assists on Friday night against the Madison Capitols helped stoke a ravenous comeback from three goals down to force overtime and get an all-important standings point. He also picked up a point by setting up Quinn Preston's overtime winner on Sunday afternoon in Lincoln.

"Getting named defenseman of the week is a real honor," Maniscalco said. "As a team, we worked hard to be successful this weekend, I'm glad to have been a part of the effort to help us get some wins."

The Arizona State commit has six goals and 18 assists, good for 24 points, and tied for the fifth-most points by defensemen in the USHL this season. The native of the Keystone State has also notched 11 power play points for the team, and regularly serves as a power play quarterback and defenseman on the top pair at five-on-five with Jacob Semik.
