Seattle Storm News Release
SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm announced today the signing of free agent forward Theresa Plaisance. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Theresa is a high-character, veteran player with championship-level experience, and fits perfectly into our Storm culture," said Noelle Quinn, Storm Head Coach. "She is a hard worker and can spread the floor with her three-point shooting ability. We are excited to welcome her to Seattle."
Plaisance, a 2022 WNBA Champion with the Las Vegas Aces, was originally drafted by the Tulsa Shock in the third round (No. 27 overall) of the 2014 WNBA Draft. The nine-year WNBA veteran played five-plus seasons with the franchise, which relocated to Dallas and became the Wings prior to the 2016 campaign. Dallas traded Plaisance to Connecticut on August 6, 2019, where she stayed until signing a free agent contract with the Washington Mystics in 2021.
"I am elated to enter my 10th season in the WNBA as a member of the Seattle Storm, an organization I have always admired!" said Plaisance. "The Storm has set an elite standard, both on and off the court, that I cannot wait to be a part of. I look forward to getting on the floor with my teammates and playing in front of the amazing fans in Seattle!"
Over her nine seasons in the league, Plaisance has averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 218 games, shooting 34% from three-point range with 172 of her 352 career field goals coming from beyond the arc. Her best statistical season came in 2017 when she averaged 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 34 games for the Wings. She nearly matched those averages in 2021 with the Mystics, averaging 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 regular season games, and contributed 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 31 games last season in Las Vegas.
Plaisance played collegiately at LSU, where she garnered All-SEC honors as well as WBCA All-America Honorable Mention and helped the Lady Tigers to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two trips to the Sweet 16. She finished her career ranked fourth in program in blocks (146), 14th in rebounds (637) and 20th in scoring (1,293).
