Los Angeles Sparks News Release
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the re-signing of guard Jordin Canada to a training camp contract.
"We're happy Jordin is re-signing here in LA," said Sparks CAO & GM Karen Bryant. "She brings championship experience and continuity to our locker room as we continue to add quality depth to our point guard rotation."
The Los Angeles native was signed by the Sparks on Feb. 8, 2022. In one year with her hometown team, she played in 32 games (25 starts), averaging 9.2 points, 5.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
"I am excited to have Jordin back in a Sparks uniform," said Head Coach Curt Miller. "She is a dynamic point guard that impacts both ends of the court with her quickness. We will rely on her to create tempo and pace offensively while asking her to be a disruptive defender on opposing guards."
Canada was drafted fifth overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2018 draft out of UCLA. In four seasons in Seattle, she won two WNBA championships and averaged 7.2 points, 4.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Also while with the Storm, she was the WNBA steals leader in 2019 (2.3 per game) and received WNBA All-Defensive First Team honors in 2019.
"I think the theme of this free agency is about sacrificing to be a part of something special," said Canada. "I believe in the vision that is getting ready to take place. We definitely have something special happening in LA and I'm excited to stay home."
