Storm Set to Host Stampede for "April Fool's Night"

KEARNEY, NE - The Tri-City Storm return to action tonight at the Viaero Center in the team's "April Fool's Night" against the Sioux Falls Stampede. The game is the first of a three-game weekend for the Storm. Tri-City will host Sioux Falls at the Viaero Center again tomorrow night before traveling to the Ice Box on Sunday afternoon for a rivalry matchup against the Lincoln Stars. Tri-City (39-10-2-0) completed a two-game sweep of the Omaha Lancers last weekend at the Viaero Center. Ilya Nikolaev (2), Mitchell Miller, Cole O'Hara, Tanner Adams, and Lleyton Roed scored goals during the weekend sweep for Tri-City. Sebastian Wraneschitz and Arsenii Sergeev each notched a win in net for the Storm last weekend. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering the three-game weekend include Mitchell Miller (30), Cole O'Hara (22), Jeremy Wilmer (20), Ilya Nikolaev (20), and Lleyton Roed (18). The Storm have won five of the opening nine games of the season series against the Stampede. Tri-City won five of eight games played against Sioux Falls last season. The Storm is 15-9-1-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Stampede over the last five seasons. Tri-City most recently completed a two-game weekend sweep of Sioux Falls at the Viaero Center on February 25th and February 26th. Tri-City is 7-3-0-0 over the past ten games and is seeking to win its 40th game of the season tonight. A win tonight over the Stampede would give the Storm its third 40-win season in the organization's history.

Sioux Falls (16-30-3-3) has won just three of its last ten games and enters tonight's road matchup against Tri-City as the last-place team in the league standings. The Stampede fell in back-to-back road games last weekend against the Lincoln Stars and Sioux City Musketeers. Sioux Falls was outscored by an overall margin of 12-4 in those games. Sam Harris, Maddox Fleming, Clint Levens, and Michael LaStarza each scored a goal during the Stampede's two-game weekend. Isak Posch and Noah Grannan each recorded a loss in net for Sioux Falls last weekend. Daniel Russell (15), Michael LaStarza (13), Sam Harris (12), and Garrett Pinoniemi (9) lead the Stampede in goals scored this season entering this weekend's road series against the Storm. Sioux Falls will play a road game against the Sioux City Musketeers on Sunday afternoon to complete a three-game weekend on the road.
