
Storm Selects a Forward and Defenseman in the 2021 CHL Import Draft

Guelph, ON - Storm General Manager & Head Coach George Burnett announced on Wednesday that the hockey club has selected Valentin Zhugin and Leo Hafenrichter in the 2021 CHL Import Draft.
Zhugin, the 5'10, 175 lbs left-handed forward from Russia was selected 54th overall in this year's CHL Import Draft. Zhugin had an impressive season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk U16 team in 2019-20, recording 28 goals, 26 assists, 54 points, and 20 PIMs in 32 games. Zhugin followed up with an outstanding 2020-21 campaign with Magnitogorsk Stalnye Lisy of the MHL, producing 10 goals, 15 assists, 25 points, and 12 PIMs in 44 games.
Hafenrichter, the 6'1, 185 lbs right-handed defenseman from Germany was selected with the 69th pick in this year's CHL Import Draft. Hafenrichter had an excellent 2019-20 season, producing 8 goals, 17 assists, 25 points, and 12 PIMs in 30 games.
"Valentin put up terrific numbers in Russia's top junior league last season as a late 2004-born player. Leo is a big, mobile, puck-moving defenseman and is considered one of the top young defenseman in his country. Both players are expected to have an opportunity to represent their countries in upcoming international events." said GM and Head Coach George Burnett. "We are excited and hopeful that both players will be in our lineup come the fall."
