THE SEATTLE STORM PRESENT ‘GIRL POWER WEEK'

Highlights Include Girl Power Clinic and Girl Power Talking Circles With Players

Seattle, WA– The Seattle Storm today announced that their "Girl Power Week" which will take place Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11. The week features several appearances by Storm players and coaches. The week of events is designed to inspire and motivate girls around the Puget Sound region as well as provide opportunities to demonstrate and share their "Girl Power."

The following is a list of Girl Power Week 2004 activities:

Tuesday, June 8

Girl Power Mother-Daughter Clinic, 4-5:30 p.m., Green Lake outdoor court, next to the Green Lake Community Center located at 7201 E. Green Lake Dr. N., Seattle, WA. This event is open to the media.

In celebration of Girl Power Week, the Seattle Storm will host a free clinic for girls ages 7-14. Each girl will be accompanied by a female adult guest. Kamila Vodichkova and Janell Burse will lead the clinic as well as a question and answer session.

Participants will receive a special $14 ticket offer (regularly priced at $21) to "Bring A Girl to a Game Night" on Friday, June 11 when the Storm take on the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. at KeyArena.

Wednesday, June 9

Girl Power Talking Circles, 4-6 p.m., The Furtado Center, located at 490 Fifth Ave. N., Seattle, WA. This event is not open to the media.

The Seattle Storm are partnering with the Northwest Girls Coalition and the Daughters-Sisters Project to facilitate small group discussions with girls ages 8-14. Girls will have the opportunity to talk in small groups with Storm players Adia Barnes, Betty Lennox, Tully Bevilaqua, Alicia Thompson and Michelle Greco to learn more about the practice of compassionate listening. Players will share personal stories and experiences with the girls. Thursday, June 10

Read To Achieve Appearance, 2-3 p.m., Van Asselt Elementary, located at 7201 Beacon Ave. S., Seattle, WA. This event is open to the media.

Storm players Simone Edwards and Trina Frierson will participate in a Read To Achieve event. Edwards and Frierson will meet and greet students as they choose books. Older students will be paired with kindergartners as reading buddies. Players will circulate among the pairings to talk about the importance of reading.

Friday, June 11

Storm vs. Connecticut, 7 p.m. tipoff, KeyArena

"Bring a Girl to a Game Night"

"Women's Funding Alliance Night"

"Dads and Daughters Night"
