Charlotte Sting News Release
Career Highs
Sting forward Charlotte-Smith Taylor recorded a career-high 18 points on Tuesday, June 1 vs. New York. Her previous career high (17) came on July 28, 2000.
Rookie Kelly Mazzante recorded a career-high 15 points on Thursday, June 3 at Connecticut. The 6-0 guard saw 19 minutes of action and went 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the three point line en route to her career night.
Survey Says
The 2004 WNBA Player Survey shows that the Sting are the second most experienced team in the WNBA at an average of 3.91 seasons per player. The only team with more experience on their roster is the Houston Comets who average 3.92 seasons. The least experienced team is the Minnesota Lynx at an average of only 1.69 seasons.
Road Trip Continues
The Sting will continue their longest road stretch of the season this week as they head west to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday, June 9 and the Phoenix Mercury on June 11. The four game road stretch began on Tuesday, June 3 in Connecticut and continued on Saturday, June 5 in Indiana.
Scoring Leaders
In their first six games of the season, the Sting have had six different players lead the team in scoring. (May 21-Andrea Stinson, 13 points; May 22-Tynesha Lewis, 16 points; May 28-Tammy Sutton-Brown, 16 points; June 1-Charlotte Smith-Taylor, 18 points; June 3-Kelly Mazzante, 15 points; June 5-Allison Feaster, 18 points)

ON TV
Catch the Sting on WJZY-UPN 46 on July 18 at 4:00 p.m. as they travel to New York to face the Liberty and on July 31 at 10:00 p.m. as they play the Monarchs in Sacramento. The Sting will conclude their season on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Detroit on September 19.
