Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE – In preparation for their fifth season in the WNBA and their 2004 opening weekend, several members of the Seattle Storm will take a break from

training camp to attend the Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field at 7:05 p.m., on Tuesday, May 18.

Storm players will also cheer on the Mariners and greet fans at Fox Sports Grill at 1522 Sixth Ave. in downtown Seattle starting at 6:30 p.m.

Storm forward Lauren Jackson, a three-time WNBA All-Star and the 2003 WNBA MVP, will throw out the first pitch at the Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles game. The M's pitcher's mound is not foreign to Jackson, who threw out the first pitch at Safeco in April of 2001 shortly after being selected by the Storm with the first pick in the WNBA Draft.

Jackson will be joined on the diamond by two-time All-WNBA guard and U.S. Olympian Sue Bird as well as Storm newcomers Betty Lennox, Michelle Greco, Andrea Gardner-Combs and Shaquala Williams. Bird and her teammates will meet with fans throughout the concourse as they make their way to the field. Bird will also be a guest on Fox Sports Net's Mariners Warm-Up with Rich Waltz, discussing the May 20 season opener and the team's outlook for 2004.

After the first pitch, Jackson will join the rest of her Storm teammates at Fox Sports Grill to watch the Mariners vs. Orioles game. Fans in attendance will be eligible for a ticket giveaway to the Storm season opener on Thursday, May 20 against Minnesota at KeyArena.

Single-game tickets for all 2004 Storm games at KeyArena can be purchased by logging on to storm.wnba.com or calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Storm tickets are also available at the Sonics & Storm Team Shop located at 312 First Ave N. on KeyArena's West Plaza.
