Comets Waive Kelley Gibson

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today that the team has waived guard/forward Kelley Gibson.

Gibson (5-10, Maryland '99) averaged 1.5 points and 0.3 assists in 26 games with Houston in 2003. Overall, Gibson holds career averages of 1.7 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists in four seasons with Houston. She had seen action in 100 games with the Comets, which ranks seventh on Houston's all-time list for games played. Gibson also ranks among the Comets career leaders in 3-point field goal percentage (.341, 30-88). She originally signed with Houston as a free agent on May 2, 2000. Gibson signed as a free agent with the Indiana Fever on May 2, 2003, and was waived on May 6. She was re-signed as a free agent by the Comets on May 8, 2003.

The team recipient of the 2003 WNBA Offseason Community Assist Award, Gibson served as spokesperson for the Houston Comets Speakers Bureau during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 offseasons.
