Lake Elsinore Storm News Release

The Lake Elsinore Storm once again got a few innings of stellar pitching and that proved to be all they needed to gain a big lead and a home win against the Modesto Nuts. Levi Thomas began his start on shaky ground, walking two and hitting a batter to load the bases with 1 out. He was able to get out of that trouble while giving up only one run.

In the bottom of the 1st, the Storm took advantage of what the Nuts did not. They strung together 3 straight hits to capture an early 3-1 lead. Each team would then see excellent pitching from their starters. Levi Thomas would retire 8 straight batters while De Los Santos would go 4 straight innings without giving up a single run following that rough 1st inning.

The Storm, however, would capitalize on his exit as they scored 8 runs against Nuts relief pitching and power past Modesto 11-5.

Yordy Barley would collect 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 steals giving him the steal league lead with 23 total steals on the year. Four other Storm batters would put at least 2 hits on the board. Jack Stronach was the huge contributor tonight as he went 3-5 with 5 RBIs. His first two RBIs being his biggest as they gave the Storm the 6-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning.

The Storm hope to once again hit .500 on the season tomorrow night against the Modesto Nuts in Lake Elsinore.
