Measure of revenge The Storm swept Sioux Falls in the opening round of the 2016 Clark Cup Playoffs, helping Tri-City exorcize some demons from the 2015 playoffs; the Stampede eliminated the Storm in the 2015 Western Conference Finals.
During the 2016 Conference Semifinals, Tri-City outscored Sioux Falls, 12-3. The Storm's Alex Limoges (2g) and the Stampede's Jack Becker are the only two returning player that scored in the series. Jack McNeely is the only Tri-City player that skated in the 2015 Western Conference Finals.
Three new goalies Tri-City's returning netminder Dayton Rasmussen is the only goalie that participated in the 2016 Western Conference Finals. The 17-year-old from Eden Prairie, Minnesota backed up Tri-City's Jake Kielly in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Sioux Falls has two new goaltenders, Mikhail Berdin and Jeremy Swayman. The tandem has replaced last year's duo of Stefanos Lekkas and Ales Stezka.
Swayman, 17, served as an emergency netminder for the Storm in October 2015, backing up former Tri-City goalie Matt Greenfield for one game.
Last time out Linus Weissbach scored the first goal late in the first and the Storm never trailed, defeating Lincoln, 3-1, to open the regular season.
Monte Graham (3g in 2015-16) and Joe Cipollone (7g in 2015-16) tallied 59 seconds apart to put the Storm up three.
Dayton Rasmussen made 26 stops, including ten in the third. Rasmussen, 17, is starting his second USHL season and was named to NHL Central Scouting's preliminary list this offseason.
On Deck After the first two regular season games, the Storm prepares for its home opener, Championship Night, on Friday, September 30 at 7:05 p.m vs. Sioux City.
