Ralston, NE - A late tally from Jackson Keane was the difference as Sioux City handed Omaha their second loss of the season, 2-1.
For the second straight night the Lancers gave up a short-handed goal. Erlends Klavins picked up his first of the year beating fellow Latvian Matiss Kivilenieks.
Special teams were key again early. Omaha had a power-play opportunity but for the second straight night the Lancers surrendered a short-handed goal. A Lancer turnover turned into a 2-on-1 for Sioux City. Jackson Keane connected with Connor McMenamin who did not waste a point-blank opportunity beating Jacob Acton high for the first goal of the game.
Sioux City's 1-0 lead would hold till around five minutes into the second. Trevor St. Jean, making his Lancer debut fired a pass cross ice that connected with Erlends Klavins. The Latvian beat Matiss Kivlenieks five-hole to knot it up at 1-1. Despite controlling much of second period Omaha and Sioux City remained tied at 1-1 after forty minutes of play.
In the third both teams traded chances but it was not until the final three minutes of regulation that either team broke the deadlock. Jackson Keane came streaking down the left wing sending a shot just under the blocker of Jacob Acton. Keane's tally with 2:29 left in regulation ended up being the game winner as the Musketeers won 2-1.
Omaha is back in action Friday night as they host Madison at Ralston Arena.
