Sioux Falls Beats Storm in Shootout, 3-2

Sioux Falls, S.D. - Matt Quercia and Eric MacAdams scored in the three-round shootout for the Sioux Falls Stampede to defeat the Tri-City Storm, 3-2, Saturday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Tri-City came back from a pair of one-goal deficits to force overtime; Paul Washe and Wyllum Deveaux scored for the Storm to answer Herd goals.

In the shootout, Sioux Falls scored twice and Tri-City was denied on a pair of chances.

The Storm outshot Sioux Falls, 50-27, the most shots Tri-City has fired in the Bill Muckalt era.

Dayton Rasmussen started for the second straight night and made 25 saves. The Stampede's Jeremy Swayman made 48 saves.

Tri-City gets ready for a four-game home stand starting with Championship Night next Friday, September 30 at 7:05 p.m. against Sioux City. The Storm will raise its Clark Cup Championship banner and hand out championship pennants to the first 1,000 fans.

After allowing the first goal midway through the first, Tri-City tied the game with less than a minute left in the frame. On an abbreviated penalty kill, Monte Graham held the puck behind the net and flipped a slot feed to Deveaux, who one-timed it on one knee to the top right part of the net. The shorthanded goal evened the game, 1-1, with 59.3 seconds left in the frame.

Graham and Deveaux each have one goal and two points this season. Tri-City outshot the Herd, 18-9, in the first. Deveaux, born August 30, 2000, is Tri-City's youngest player.

Jason O'Neill tallied for the Herd at 2:20 of the second to give Sioux Falls a one-goal edge.

Tri-City again responded with force by hurling shots on net. With 8:59 left in the second, Alex Limoges nubbed the puck to Washe at the right post. Washe's first whack struck Swayman's pads, but the next beat the netminder to the left pocket.

Washe scored nine goals and 16 points for Tri-City last season.

After two periods, the Storm held a 31-13 shots edge on Sioux Falls. The shots edge continued; Tri-City flipped 12 shots in the third period and seven in overtime. Sioux Falls had five overtime shots, all stopped by Rasmussen.

Tri-City's next game is Championship Night on Friday, September 30 at 7:05 p.m vs. Sioux City.

The Storm hosts Green Bay on Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7. On Thursday, Tri-City gives away season tickets to four lucky fans! Friday is Hocktoberfest, with $1 beers, presented by Bud Light.
