Storm Drop Shootout Decision to Des Moines 4-3

Kearney, NE - The Tri-City Storm dropped a shootout decision to the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday night at the Viaero Center. Ronnie Attard, Mike Koster, and Colby Ambrosio all scored goals for the Storm in regulation, but the team was unable to find a goal in overtime or the shootout and fell 4-3. Tomorrow's home game against Sioux City is the final game of the 2018-2019 regular season.

Ronnie Attard netted his 28th goal of the season at 7:21 of the 1st period to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead. Attard's goal was assisted by Brendan Budy and Shane Pinto and was scored on the power play. Des Moines answered with a power play goal of its own with under four minutes to play in the period. Mac Welsher scored his 18th goal of the season at 16:40 of the 1st period to tie the game at 1-1. Tri-City quickly responded with a goal from Mike Koster at the 18:28 mark of the period. Koster's goal was his 2nd of the season and was assisted by Khristian Acosta and Ian Murphy. Tri-City carried a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period. Nick Andrews scored a shorthanded goal at the 3:36 mark of the 2nd period to tie the game at 2-2. Colby Ambrosio netted his 12th goal of the season at 11:08 of the 2nd period to put the Storm in front again. Ambrosio's goal was assisted by Shane Pinto and Brendan Furry. The Storm took a 3-2 lead into the 3rd period.

The only goal of the 3rd period was scored by TJ Walsh to force overtime for Des Moines. Walsh's goal was scored at 9:53 of the period and was assisted by Matt Brown. After Des Moines forced overtime, no goals were scored in the overtime period and the game went to a shootout to decide the winner. Matt Brown and TJ Walsh both scored in the shootout and Des Moines won its 35th game of the season by a final score of 4-3 against Tri-City.

Tomorrow's home games vs. Sioux City will be the final regular season game of the Storm's historic 2018-2019 Anderson Cup Championship season. The game will include fan giveaways, a post-game autograph session with Storm players, drink specials, a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas, and the team's annual "Jersey's Off Our Backs' promotion. Saturday's game will also include the presentation of the Anderson Cup Trophy to the Tri-City Storm from the USHL.
