Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Despite a game-tying homer in the ninth from Brandon Montgomery, the Quakes dropped a ten-inning affair to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Wednesday, 8-7 at LoanMart Field.
An RBI hit by Storm infielder Chris Baker was the difference on Wednesday, as the Storm ended Rancho's four-game winning streak overall and a seven-game win streak at home.
With a runner starting the tenth inning at second base, Quakes' reliever Ryan Moseley (3-3) gave up a single to Baker, plating Ruddy Giron to give Lake Elsinore an 8-7 lead.
The Quakes got the same advantage in the last of the tenth, as Cody Thomas opened the inning at second base. Cristian Santana, Tuesday's walk-off hero, struck out to open the inning and Jeren Kendall lined into a double-play, as Dauris Valdez faced just two hitters to record his tenth save of the year.
Rancho clubbed three homers on Wednesday, as Jared Walker opened the game with a solo shot, his 13th of the year to give the Quakes an early 1-0 lead. Thomas tied the game at 2-2 with his 17th shot of the year, a solo blast in the third inning against Storm starter Ronald Bolanos.
Montgomery's game-tying jack off eventual winner Hansel Rodriguez (1-0) was already his third in a Rancho uniform in just ten games.
Dodgers' rehabbing lefty Julio Urias started on Wednesday and gave up a pair of runs, on a two-run bomb by Jorge Ona, over just 1.1 innings. The lefty allowed two hits and struck out two, while throwing 32 pitches in a no-decision.
The Quakes (72-50, 37-15) will match up with the Storm in the rubber game of the three-game series on Thursday, sending Isaac Anderson (7-6) to the mound, opposite Storm right-hander Pedro Avila (7-7) at 7:05pm.
Fans can join us for Thirsty Thursday at LoanMart Field! $2 Pepsi products, $3 domestic drafts and $4 premium drafts along with wine and margaritas will be available throughout the game thanks to Bernard's. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com or by calling (909) 481-5000.
