
66ers Win Series with 5-3 Victory over San Jose

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino downed the San Jose Giants 5-3 at San Manuel Stadium on Wednesday to take the series two-games-to-one. Inland Empire (63-60, 30-23) finished a six-game homestand going 4-2.
The Giants (52-71, 18-35) took a 3-0 lead against Sixers' starter Nate Bertness in the third when Johneshwy Fargas singled in a pair followed by a RBI single from Tanner Murphy. Inland Empire got one run back in the bottom of the frame when Jonah Todd singled and Bernabe Camargo knocked him in with a RBI single. The game remained 3-1 until the sixth when with runners in scoring position Brandon Marsh doubled in two runs to tie the game against Joey Marciano (0-4). Franklin Navarro's RBI single later in the frame drove in Marsh and gave the Sixers a 4-3 advantage. David MacKinnon tallied a RBI single in the bottom of the eighth for an insurance run for the Sixers. Jorge Tavarez (4-1) was credited with the win for the Sixers with 1.2 shutout frames. Greg Belton, just transferred from the Triple-A Salt Lake roster on Wednesday, nabbed the save with a scoreless ninth.
