Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - On the heels of their longest winning streak of the season, the Lancaster JetHawks are in the midst of their longest losing streak after a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Stockton Wednesday night at The Hangar. The loss was Lancaster's fifth in a row.

Stockton (25-27, 69-53) took the lead, 3-1, in the fourth inning on a three-run home run off the bat of Greg Deichmann, his first of the season. Those were the only three runs allowed by Logan Longwith.

Lancaster (30-22, 63-59) managed to tie the game with runs in each of the next two innings. Alan Trejo, who drove in a pair of runs Wednesday, hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, a Manny Melendez bunt single and a Stockton throwing error pushed the tying run across.

The Ports took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Heath Holder worked out of a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in the fifth inning, but allowed a trio of two-out runs in the next inning. Cobie Vance and Chase Calabuig each had RBI singles against Holder (8-1), who suffered his first loss of the season.

Stockton's Evan Manarino (4-6) earned the win, allowing three runs (one earned) in five innings. The JetHawks scored once against reliever Will Gilbert, but were unable to tie the game again. Lancaster went hitless in ten at-bats with runners in scoring position Wednesday.

Lancaster's five-game skid comes immediately after a six-game win streak for the JetHawks. The team's last five-game winning streak was followed by a four-game losing streak.

The JetHawks need a win Thursday night to avoid getting swept in a second consecutive series. Antonio Santos (2-2) takes the hill against Stockton's Matt Milburn (7-4). First pitch at The Hangar is 6:35 pm.
