Winning all three games last week, the Storm clinched a playoff birth when they defeated the Kitchener Rangers 5-4 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon. With climbing up to sixth place still a possibility, the Storm face the most important weekend of their season heading to Sarnia on Thursday, hosting Erie on Friday and traveling to Owen Sound for the final game of the 2009-10 season on Saturday. This weekend's action will determine exactly what place the Storm will finish in the standings and which opponent they will face in the post season.

AMJ Player of the Week

The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Peter Holland is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 7th.

Holland picked up five points, three assists and two goals in three games and was a +3. Held off the scoresheet Wednesday night in Erie, Holland was named first star of the game against the Sting on Friday night, scoring twice and setting up Beck on the powerplay for his 36th of the year. Against the Rangers on Sunday at the Sleeman Centre, the 19 year old picked up two assists and scored the only goal in the shootout to help his team pick up an important two points. For the second game in a row, Holland was awarded with the first star of the game.

Currently riding a nine game point streak, Holland has been the Storm's most consistent player since January 1st. Recording at least one point in 25 of his last 29 games, the Ducks first round selection in 2009 has recorded 49 points 29 games. He currently sits second on the Storm in scoring with 75 points and assists with 47. He has scored one short handed marker and nine powerplay goals putting him third behind Taylor Beck (15) and Matt Sisca (10). The Storm's first round pick in 2007 is producing at well over a point per game pace.

7 Day 'Storm Forecast'

Fan Appreciation Night this Friday

Friday night the Storm hosts the Erie Otters at the Sleeman Centre in a critical game to determine playoff seeding in the Western Conference. Off the ice, the action could be just as intense with thousands of dollars in giveaways throughout the game as part of the Storm's annual Fan Appreciation Night.

Before the game, the Storm will carry on their tradition of honouring each of our overage players in an on-ice presentation including three lucky fans.

As always, the Storm's final regular season game will also determine the Pizza Pizza Fan of the Year with the top fan receiving $1,000 in Pizza Pizza certificates.

Following the game, fans will join the Storm on the ice for the "Skyline Jerseys Off Our Backs" promotion in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Guelph. The online auction concluded on Monday with almost two thousand dollars raised.

Also to be given away on Friday night will be:

- A pair of Bauer One95 Skates (MSRP: $779.99) in a 'Cinderella' skate giveaway to take place at the Guelph Storm Fan Satisfaction Table behind sections 114/115. Interested fans can visit the table to see if the skates fit and one pair will be given away to a randomly drawn fan. Unless your foot fits... you won't be eligible to win the skates.

- With each Storm goal, one randomly drawn fan will win $250 in VIA Rail Travel vouchers.

- During the 1st intermission, two randomly drawn shooters will participate in the Casey's Double Your Dollars promotion with one of the shooters guaranteed to take home $400 in gift certificates for Casey's Bar & Grill on Edinburgh Road.

- An Oryx Volt 26 21-speed bike (estimated retail value: $219.99) will be given away to one randomly drawn fan.

Round One Rush

The Guelph Storm announced today that tickets for their Western Conference Quarterfinal series will go on sale on Thurday, March 11th at noon by calling or visiting the Storm box office.

The Storm is excited to introduce our ROUND ONE RUSH promotion for this season with all regular priced lower bowl tickets for the Guelph Storm's first round series ONLY $10.00 (plus service charges if applicable).

With their exciting 5-4 shootout win over the third place Kitchener Rangers on Sunday afternoon in front of a sold out crowd of 4,993 at the Sleeman Centre, Guelph clinched a playoff spot for the 18th consecutive season. The Storm has not missed the playoffs since their first season in the Royal City in 1991-92. Only the Plymouth Whalers franchise owns a longer active streak among OHL clubs with 19 consecutive playoff appearances.

With three games remaining in their 2009/10 regular season schedule, the Storm can still finish anywhere between fifth and eighth in the Western Conference.

Guelph Storm Honours Billets

Sunday afternoon before the home game against the Kitchener Rangers, the Guelph Storm honoured their billets for their efforts and commitment with a special on ice presentation.

Also recognized were parents of former Storm defenceman and Olympic Gold Medalist Drew Doughty. The Storm congratulated the entire Doughty family and welcomed Paul and Connie who came decorated with Drew's gold medal won last Sunday in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Team USA.

Drew was one of five former Storm playrs to compete int he 2010 Olympic games.

Alumni Game and Skills Competition Update

Several players have confirmed to play in the upcoming Alumni Game and Skills Competition at the Sleeman Centre on Saturday, June 12th at 2:00 pm with more players to be announced.

Tickets for the Guelph Storm's 20th Anniversary Alumni Game are on sale at the Guelph Storm box office and through Ticketmaster. Before the Alumni Game and Skills Competition, all of the participants will be available for an autograph session inside the Sleeman Centre for fans purchasing a ticket to the game.

All tickets for the game will be only $10 (including GST) with all net proceeds from the event being donated to the Guelph Wish Fund For Children.

Seats will be held for Guelph Storm 2009-10 season ticket holders until Friday, March 12th. Season Ticket holders that purchase their current seats before the March 12th deadline will be entered into a draw to win tickets to the exclusive 20th Anniversary Reunion Dinner event. A total of four season ticket holders will be drawn to win two seats at the dinner.

The Anniversary Alumni Reunion will be held the entire weekend of June 11th -13th with three principle goals. The first is to bring players together in a reunion-type setting, the second is to give Storm fans the opportunity to see their favourite players again and the third is to raise money for local charities including Guelph Wish Fund for Children.
