Storm Chasers Unveil Alternate Identity as the Cazadores de Tormentas

PAPILLION, NE. - The Omaha Storm Chasers announced on Tuesday they will take the field as the Omaha Cazadores de Tormentas ("Storm Chasers") during the 2018 season as part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión series.
"Given the Hispanic influence in our community, and in baseball, playing as the Cazadores de Tormentas is a natural thing," said Storm Chasers President and General Manager Martie Cordaro. "The Omaha Metro has one of the fastest growing Hispanic communities in the United States, and we are very excited to celebrate that at Werner Park this season."
The Cazadores de Tormentas are scheduled to play on June 7, June 21, July 21 and August 2 at Werner Park. Each of these four evenings will also feature special guests from the Omaha Metro's Hispanic community, in addition to art, music and dancing. Food trucks will also be parked just outside of the ballpark for fans to enjoy on select dates.
The Storm Chasers are one of 33 Minor League Baseball franchises to participate in the "Copa de la Diversión", or "Fun Cup", a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams' U.S. Hispanic communities. A three-foot tall "Copa de la Diversión" trophy will tour participating cities as part of a "Gira de la Copa" ("Cup Tour"), and is scheduled to visit Omaha on June 7.
Following the Royals Exhibition Game presented by SAC Federal Credit Union on March 26, the Storm Chasers begin their 2018 regular season at Werner Park on Thursday, April 5 versus the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at 6:35 p.m. CT.
