
Storm, Bowes to Tip Off Fast Break to Reading Program

Seattle Storm guard Tanisha Wright, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County and Pitney Bowes are teaming up to help raise awareness for literacy through the 2009 Fast Break To Reading program. The program encourages youth nationwide to read throughout the summer and track their minutes online. The goal is for the youth to collectively reach one million minutes of reading time.
To introduce the Fast Break To Reading program in Seattle, the Storm and Pitney Bowes are holding a Reading Timeout event with youth from King County Boys & Girls Clubs on Thursday, June 25 at 3 p.m. Wright will be on hand to read one of her favorite children's books and answer questions about the book with the children.
Boys & Girls Club of King County members who read 20 minutes a day for 20 days during the month of July will receive two free tickets for Read to Achieve Night at the Aug. 25 Seattle Storm game. In addition, the four participants who read the most minutes in July will be recognized on-court during the game, and all those participating will be entered into a contest to win a pizza party with Tanisha Wright for their home club.
