Storm Acquire Lind, Three Players From Chicago

The Tri-City Storm traded the number one overall pick in the 2010 USHL Entry Draft to the Chicago Steel in exchange for defenseman Kevin Lind, defenseman Zack Rall, forward TJ Sarcona, and forward Cory Czarnik. In addition to the trade, the teams swapped picks in the fourth and fifth round.
Lind, an NHL prospect, is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry draft and is committed to the University of Notre Dame for the Fall of 2011. This past season for the Steel, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound, Homer Glen, Ill. native had six goals, 10 assists and was a plus-3 in 55 games.
"We said from the start of the draft, we wanted to be big and solid in the defensive ranks and Kevin Lind and Zack Rall are our types of players moving forward into next season," said Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck from the Las Vegas draft room. "They are both USHL-ready players and I believe Lind, if entry draft eligible, would be a number one pick overall pick by any team including us."
Rall, who is from Anchorage, Alaska, played in 46 games for the Steel and had 5 assists and was a plus-1 in his rookie season. The six foot, 195-pound defenseman is committed to playing for the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the Fall of 2012, which means he could play with the Storm for two seasons.
"Both of these players have a lot of upside in their respected games that Storm fans will enjoy seeing next season," said Schoneck.
Also, Tri-City acquired two Chicago protected players who were drafted in 2009 by the Steel. Sarcona was an USHL Entry Draft pick (18th Rd. - 225th overall) and Czarnik was selected in the futures draft (4th rd. - 42nd overall).
Sarcona, 5-foot-10, 170-pound, played for the New Jersey Rockets (Atlantic Junior Hockey League) this past season and had 10 goals, 21 assists and 40 penalty minutes in 39 games.
Czarnik, who is expected to play this season, played with the Honeybaked midget-minor team last season. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound forward had 16 goals, 15 assists in 42 games in the 2009-10 season.
"We felt we needed to get some forwards that could play here next season to help the team's depth in the forward ranks," Schoneck said. "I think these prospects will be a factor in our lineup and it gives us some youth as well as potential upfront."
