PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (August 24, 2015) - The Charlotte Stone Crabs ended their eight-game losing streak by slugging their way to an 8-5 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Monday at Charlotte Sports Park.

The Stone Crabs entered the game coming off of three consecutive shutouts. They immediately scored a run in the first inning, and they later broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh by scoring five runs.

The Mets entered the seventh trailing 3-1 but managed to tie the game when Phil Evans belted an RBI double and Colton Plaia knocked Evans in with a sac fly to make it 3-3.

However, David Roseboom struggled in the bottom of the seventh. He issued two walks and allowed a single to load the bases with no one out. A wild pitch let Braxton Lee score to make it 4-3. With the bases reloaded, Mike Marjama hit a two-run double that bounced off the first base bag to make it 6-3. Jace Conrad singled home a run and Pat Blair hit an RBI sac fly for the first out of the inning to put the Crabs up 8-3.

The Mets scored twice in the top of the ninth to get within 8-5, but Isaac Gil got Victor Cruzado to ground out to end the game, stranding the potential tying run Maikis De La Cruz in the on deck circle.

Colton Plaia went 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored in the loss.

Michael Gibbons received a no decision. He was called up from Savannah earlier in the day and pitched six innings, allowing three runs and five hits. He walked two and struck out five.

Charlotte starter Buddy Borden did not give up an earned run in 6.1 innings. Three errors by short stop Willy Adames helped the Mets score three runs against Borden.
