Tampa, FL - Abiatal Avelino, hitless in his first five at-bats, delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth inning to lift the Tampa Yankees over the Dunedin Blue Jays on Monday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field, 3-2.

The game was scoreless into the seventh inning, when Dunedin's Jason Leblebijian doubled over the head of right fielder Michael O'Neill with one out. Andy Fermin followed with a majestic two-run homer to right, his second of the season, to put the Blue Jays in front.

Derek Blacksher tossed six shutout innings in his second start with the D-Jays. The 30 year-old right-hander scattered eight hits and struck out five. The Yankees tied the game with single runs in the seventh and eighth off Lendy Castillo.

Matt Dermody (3-1) pitched a scoreless ninth for the D-Jays, stranding the bases loaded, but gave up the decisive single to Avelino with two out in the bottom of the tenth.

Dietrich Enns started for Tampa and retired the first 11 batters he faced. He matched Blacksher with six shutout innings and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out eight. Angel Rincon followed with three innings out of the Tampa bullpen and surrendered the homer to Fermin in the seventh, before responding with a pair of scoreless frames. Caleb Frare (2-1) tossed a scoreless tenth inning to earn the victory.

The Yankees out-hit the Blue Jays 14-7 and recorded at least one base hit in every inning. Tampa left 14 men on base.

The series against the Yankees in Tampa concludes tomorrow night with the rubber game. Left-hander Shane Dawson will take the hill for the D-Jays. First pitch is set for 7:00 ET and the action can be heard on DunedinBlueJays.com.
