Forward Samuel Blais Extends Point Streak to Five Games with Three-Point Outing
STOCKTON, Calif. - Rasmus Andersson recorded the game winner in the final 34 seconds of regulation as the Stockton Heat (17-10-2-3) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (20-14-2-0) 4-3 on Saturday at Stockton Arena. Forward Samuel Blais registered two goals and one assist in his first game back with the Rampage, earning the Third Star of the Game.
Stockton got out to an early lead 3:38 into the first period when Hunter Shinkaruk made a pass from behind the net to the waiting stick of Darren Nowick who hit a shot past netminder Spencer Martin. Blais tied the game at 10:21 after he collected a rebound from Chris Butler's shot and fired the puck into the back of the net. The Heat regained the lead at 16:08 after Ryan Lomberg forced a turnover deep in the Rampage zone and delivered a pass to Spencer Foo who fired a one timer from the left circle.
Stockton extended its lead 9:45 into the second frame when Brett Findlay hit a shot past Martin after connecting with Colby Robak on a backdoor pass, giving the Heat a 3-1 advantage. San Antonio cut into the lead at 10:59 after Alex Belzile's shot deflected off a Stockton skate and into the cage for his second power-play goal of the season.
The Silver and Black capitalized on a power-play opportunity at 15:57 of the final stanza after David Warsofksy found Blais in front of the net who found the back of the goal for his second of the night, tying the game at three. Stockton broke the tie for good when Andersson's wrister from the high slot slipped past Martin for a power-play goal, giving the Heat a 4-3 victory.
