Syracuse Crunch News Release

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Syracuse Crunch scored twice in the third period to complete a 4-3 comeback win over the Providence Bruins tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Michael Bournival lit the lamp in the first minute of play and kicked off back-and-forth scoring as the teams exchanged the lead twice. Adam Erne netted the game-winner off a faceoff in the final frame to complete a weekend sweep and build a five-game winning streak as the Crunch advance to 20-12-1-2 on the season. Syracuse also swept the home-and-home season series against Providence, 2-0.

Connor Ingram recorded his fourth consecutive win with 21 saves between the pipes for the Crunch. Zane McIntyre stopped 30-of-34 in net for the Bruins. Syracuse was unable to convert on two power play opportunities, while Providence went 1-for-4.

It only took the Crunch 17 seconds to open scoring. Ben Thomas backhanded the puck down the left boards and around the corner. Erne picked it up in the trapezoid, skated out from behind the cage and sent a centering pass for Bournival to one-time from the slot.

Providence knotted the game at the 12:51 mark when Matt Beleskey jammed in a rebound. Colby Cave and Tommy Cross collected the assists.

Two minutes later, Syracuse went back on top. Matthew Peca came in on a 3-on-1 with Daniel Walcott and Mathieu Joseph. As he hit the top of the right circle, Peca threw a give-and-go pass to Joseph on the right wing and chipped in the return feed.

The Bruins evened the game for a second time 4:36 into the middle stanza. Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson sauced the puck across the zone for Peter Cehlarik to bury from the right faceoff dot. Cross picked up his second point of the game with the secondary helper.

Providence took the lead on the power play half way through the second period. Anders Bjork ripped a slap shot from the top of the right circle to beat Ingram short side with the help of Rob O'Gara and Forsbacka Karlsson.

Syracuse added two less than four minutes apart to steal the win in the third period. At the 3:48 mark, Carter Verhaeghe sent the puck into the slot from behind the goal line for Mitchell Stephens to send home. Minutes later, Kevin Lynch won the faceoff in the left circle. The puck went to the top of the circle for Erne to power home for the game-winner.

The Crunch travel to face the Binghamton Devils on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Single game tickets and packages are on sale now and can be purchased in person at the Crunch office located inside the War Memorial Arena at 800 S. State St. in Syracuse, by calling the office at 315-473-4444.
