South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and the Charlotte Checkers continue their battle for a spot in the playoffs today at 4 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Hear all the action live beginning at 3:45 p.m. with the Benito's Pre-game Show with Mike Kelly, "Voice of the Rays."
The two teams met on Friday night with the Checkers winning 5-4 in overtime. With Charlotte receiving two points for the win, and South Carolina receiving one point for taking it into extra time, the teams were tied with 59 points.
Last night the Stingrays traveled to Gwinnett with the final score a 3-1 victory for the Gladiators. Since the Checkers were idle yesterday, the teams remain tied with 59 points going into today's head-to-head match-up.
Today is the ninth meeting between these two teams. They will face each other two more times during the regular season. Evan Schwabe is leading the Rays against the Checkers with 10 points in the eight games played. Bruce Graham has 11 points against South Carolina this season.
Come out to the North Charleston Coliseum for "Jersey off Their Back Night" presented by Coke. Fans present at the game will be randomly selected to win a Stingrays jersey for free. You could walk out of the Coliseum with your very own game-worn jersey.
It's also Kid's Day presented by Carolina Ice Palace; bring your skates for the post-game Skate with the Rays. Don't forget, today is your last chance to bring your dog to the hockey game for the Dog Days of Winter. Stingrays Hockey - A Whole Lot Cooler!
