Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (February 25, 2007) - The Trenton Titans could not find the back of the net with any of the 25 shots they fired at goalie Andy Franck as the Wheeling Nailers pitched a 3-0 shutout at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Nailers came to play outshooting the Titans 20-5 over the first period. Despite the shot disparity, Wheeling was only able to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission as Jonathan Foster's wrist shot ricocheted off a stick before bouncing over Joel Martin at 6:34 of the frame.

While the Titans put forth a better showing in the stanza, two late goals by the Nailers' special teams helped put the game away. As the Titans skated on a power play, Richard Colwill intercepted a pass in the neutral zone before taking it in for a breakaway and sneaking a backhander inside the near post to make it 2-0.

Soon after that Wheeling found itself on the man-advantage and up by three after Ryan Moren's one-timer found paydirt with just 22.8 seconds left until the break.

Trenton would go on to hold an 11-3 shot advantage in the final period to go along with two 5-on-3 opportunities, but still could not solve Franck on this particular afternoon.

Martin took the loss turning away 31 of 34 shots by the Nailers, while the Titans' special teams were 0-for-7 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
