Stingrays Sign Andricopoulos

South Carolina Stingrays News Release


North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today the signing of defenseman Andrew Andricopoulos. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Andricopoulos, 20, attended the Texas Wildcatters' training camp this fall and played one preseason game before being claimed off waivers by South Carolina. The Beverly, MA native spent the last four seasons with the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts, totaling 118 points (26g, 92a) and 238 penalty minutes in 259 junior contests.

The 6-foot, 180-pound defenseman led all Remparts blueliners with 48 points in 2006-07 and was a member of Quebec's 2006 Memorial Cup Championship team, coached by NHL Hall of Famer Patrick Roy.

Andricopoulos joined the team on their road trip and is expected to play in the game tomorrow morning against Johnstown at 10:35 a.m. The game will be broadcasted on CNN 1450am beginning at 10:20 a.m. with the pre-game show with Josh Heller, Voice of the Rays.

The Stingrays continue their four-game road trip with a 7:35 p.m. game against the Wheeling Nailers on Friday, Oct. 26, a 5:05 p.m. game at Johnstown on Saturday, Oct. 27th and a Sunday afternoon 4:05 p.m. game against the Elmira Jackals. Friday's game can be heard live on the Real 1340am with both Saturday's and Sunday's games being broadcasted on ESPN Radio 910 the Team.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday, Oct. 30th as they take on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m. It's Trick-or-Treat with the Stingrays after the game. All the players will be on the concourse following the game, so make sure to wear your costume to trick-or-treat from their tables. It's also the Stingrays Business Networker prior to the game.
