South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team released defenseman Mike Fournier. Fournier played in all three preseason games for the Stingrays and was signed as a free agent last week. He was a healthy scratch for the Stingrays opening weekend games at Pee Dee and Greenville.
The Stingrays will activate Ryan Brindley this week. Brindley is expected to see his first action of the season on Saturday night when the Rays open up at home against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
"Mike showed us a lot in camp this season," noted Fitzsimmons. "He is the type of player that could make a solid contribution to another team at this level."
The Stingrays will open up their home schedule on Saturday night when they host the Columbus Cottonmouths. Each fan in attendance will receive a poster schedule, courtesy of Budweiser. Before the contest, fans will be treated to a laser light show and a ten-year highlight video.
