South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Aaron Schneekloth has been loaned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Schneekloth left this morning to join his new team. It is not known how long the Rays will be without the rookie defenseman.

"This is a great opportunity for Aaron," commented Fitzsimmons. "Grand Rapids has had interest in him for a while and is willing to give him a legitimate chance to prove himself at the next level. This is what this league is about. We wish him the best of luck.

Schneekloth earned a spot in the 2003 ECHL All-Star game in Estero, Florida in January with his fine play this season. In 37 games with the Stingrays he has scored six goals and added 21 assists for 27 points.

Schneekloth, a rookie, played nine games with the Rays last season, after completing a four-year career with the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. The native of Calgary, Alberta had a goal and five assists for six points in his nine games last year with the Rays. In his senior year with the Sioux, he netted eight goals and added 21 assists for 29 points in 35 games.
