South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Promotions and operations manager Kelly Hillman announced today that the team has launched a new school appearance program called "Dare to be Different". "Dare to be Different" is a diversity program that will go on all season long in schools throughout the area.
The program will stress the importance of acceptance and teamwork in schools. Throughout the upcoming season Stingrays players will visit schools to teach students the importance of accepting those that may be different. The program is based on the player's ability to show school children how each of their teammates are unique, yet they are able to work as a team to have success on and off the ice.
"This is an interactive program that we hope students of the Lowcountry will benefit from," explained Hillman. "Our players come from all over the world and have to work together of common goals. As role models for young children in the area, the Stingrays have the ability to help our youth deal with diversity in schools and in life.
School Teachers, Principals and Coaches are urged to contact the Stingrays to book school visits. For more information contact Kelly Hillman at 744-2248 ext. 1207.
The Stingrays drop the puck on their eleventh season in October. The team's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th against the Greenville Grrrowl. Group tickets for opening night are currently on sale. Ticket packages for the upcoming season start as low as $45.00.
