
Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays Take Record Winning Streak on the Road

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays take their record 21-game winning streak on the road and start a season-long seven-game journey away from the North Charleston Coliseum tonight against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:35 at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tonight is the third and final regular-season meeting between the two teams this season.
Kelly Cup Playoffs Update:
South Carolina can clinch a berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs tonight if:
South Carolina wins AND Elmira loses OR South Carolina loses in overtime/shootout AND Elmira loses in regulation
Jakaitis Grabbing Wins:
Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis is riding a 13-game winning streak, tying the ECHL record for consecutive wins, which is currently held by Daniel Berthiaume who won 13 straight with the Roanoke Express in 1994-95.
Historic Winning Streak:
The Stingrays are riding a 21-game winning streak, the longest in ECHL history and second longest in North American professional hockey. The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) set the longest streak of 28 games during the 2011-12 season.
Series Breakdown:
The Stingrays hosted the Cyclones last Saturday at the Coliseum, picking up a thrilling 5-4 victory. Forward Andrew Rowe scored a goal and two assists and forward Wayne Simpson added three assists. Rookie Caleb Herbert provided the late-game heroics, scoring the game-tying goal late in the third period and the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout. All-time, the Stingrays are 7-12-2 against the Cyclones.
Stingrays on Streaks:
Defenseman Lee Moffie is on a five-game assist streak with six assists. Team captain Andrew Rowe is riding a seven-game point streak with two goals and 11 assists for 13 points. Forward Brandon Wong sits on a four-game assist streak (four assists).

Game Notes
The Stingrays continue a season-high seven-game road trip Friday, March 27 against the Toledo Walleye at 7:15 p.m. at Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. The Stingrays continue the journey Saturday, March 28 at Indianapolis and Sunday, March 29 at Evansville. The road trip wraps up with a trio of contests in The Sunshine State April 2-4 with tilts against the Orlando Solar Bears and Florida Everblades.
The Stingrays close the regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 11 against the Evansville IceMen at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night. The first 1,000 fans receive a 2014-15 Stingrays team photo courtesy of Sheila Lauffer of Data Imaging and a new member of the Stingrays Hall of Fame will be inducted during the first intermission.
