Stockton Thunder News Release

Ontario, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have announced that goalie Kent Simpson has been reassigned from the Sound Tigers to the Thunder by the Islanders.

Simpson, 22, was reassigned to the Sound Tigers earlier this month after the Islanders traded goalie David Leggio at the NHL Trade Deadline. Since his reassignment, Simpson played 2 games for the Sound Tigers, winning his first game for his new AHL team on March 20th in a 32-save performance against the Springfield Falcons. The goalie out of Edmonton, Alberta has posted a 1-3-0 record for the Sound Tigers this year with a 2.61 goals-against-average and .900 save-percentage.

Simpson has spent most of his year in the ECHL, starting the year with the Colorado Eagles before being reassigned to Stockton. In the ECHL, Simpson has posted a 7-16-1 record with a 3.25 goals-against-average and a .904 save-percentage in 24 combined appearances with the Thunder and Eagles.

After beginning the season with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Simpson was acquired by the Islanders in an October 4th trade that brought defenseman Nick Leddy to the Islanders.

The Thunder return home for three of their final four home games remaining this season on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for Covanta Easy Being Green and Star Wars Night Strikes Back against the Alaska Aces. For tickets call (209) 373-1500 or visit StocktonThunder.com.
