Stingrays Announce 2015 the Post and Courier Stingrays Hall of Fame Nominees

North Charleston, S.C. - South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, announced today that former President and Broadcaster Darren Abbott and former players Adam Calder, Rich Peverley and Travis Morin are the 2015 The Post and Courier Stingrays Hall of Fame nominees. The new member of The Post and Courier Stingrays Hall of Fame will be inducted during the first intermission of the Stingrays game on Saturday, April 11 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Abbott served as team President from 2006-2010 and named ECHL Executive of the Year for the 2007-08 season after being a finalist for the award following the 2006-07 season. Prior to being named President of the Stingrays, Abbott was the Director of Public Relations and Broadcasting for seven seasons with the team and honored as the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year for the 2002-03 season and ECHL Public Relations Award for the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons.

Calder ranks third all-time in Stingrays history with 257 points, fifth with 106 goals and fifth with 151 assists and helped the Stingrays capture their second Kelly Cup Championship in 2001.

Peverley skated for the Stingrays during the 2004-05 season scoring 58 points in 69 games and went on to play in 442 NHL games with Dallas, Boston, Atlanta and Nashville, scoring 241 points and winning a Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011.

Morin skated with the Stingrays from 2007-2009, helped the organization capture its third Kelly Cup Championship in 2009 and added 175 points over 147 games. During the 2007-08 season, Morin finished second in ECHL rookie scoring and in 2008-09, led the league with 62 assists. Morin appeared in 13 games with Dallas (NHL) and won a Calder Cup with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season.

The Stingrays open a season-high seven-game road trip Wednesday, March 25 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:35 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio and continue a Midwest journey Friday, March 27 at Toledo, Saturday, March 28 at Indianapolis and Sunday, March 29 at Evansville. The road trip continues with a trio of contests in The Sunshine State April 2-4 with tilts against the Orlando Solar Bears and Florida Everblades.

The Stingrays close the regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 11 against the Evansville IceMen at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night.
