
Stingrays Battle Charlotte Tonight; Godfrey Returns From Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays travel to Charlotte tonight to face the Checkers at 7:00 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena and defenseman Josh Godfrey returns to the team from the Hershey Bears of the AHL. Tonight is the tenth of eleven scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The Stingrays are 5-4-0 against the Checkers this season and have battled Charlotte in seven of their last nine games.
Godfrey, 21, appeared in two games for the Bears registering no points. The Collingwood, ONT native has four goals and ten assist for 14 points in 24 games with the Stingrays. Godfrey, a 2007 second-round NHL draft pick by the Washington Capitals, is currently on a six-game point streak with one goal and six assists with the Stingrays.
The Stingrays continue a three-game road trip Friday, January 8 in Gwinnet to face the Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Listen to the game LIVE at www.stingrayshockey.com !

Checkmate Stingrays defenseman Josh Godfrey is currently on a six-game point streak (1g, 6a) with six of his seven points coming against the Checkers. Godfrey's only goal during the streak was a game-winning overtime marker on December 16 at Charlotte.
At the Top Stingrays forward Keith Johnson leads South Carolina over the Checkers with eight points (3g, 5a) coming into tonight's contest. Keith's older brother Gregg Johnson is currently on a four-game assist streak (4a) and a two-game goal streak (2g).
