Willmar Stingers News Release
The Willmar Stingers defeated the Rochester Honkers 2-1 on Saturday night at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar, MN. Stingers starting pitcher Tanner Banks out dueled Honkers Aaron Siefken in a great Northwoods League battle. Banks went 6 2/3 innings giving up only one run while striking out five. Siefken pitched 7 innings and gave up the two Stingers runs. Kurt Spomer pitched the ninth inning and collected his second save of the season. The Stingers were led offensively by Sean Dwyer who went 2 for 3 and scored a run.
The Stingers continue the three game home stand Sunday night at 6:05pm as they take on the Rochester Honkers for Books and Baseball Night presented by Early Childhood Initiative. The first 250 families with a child 4 years of age and under will receive a book. The 2011 season is presented by Charter.
