Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 27 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Springfield Armor 107-105 on Sunday night in a game originally scheduled for Christmas Night. Greg Stiemsma recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks as the Skyforce overcame a late deficit to sweep the two-game set with the struggling Armor.
After a back and forth battle throughout the first three quarters the teams were knotted at 75 headed into the final stanza. Springfield led 93-86 with just under six minutes to go in the contest and seemed poised to pick up the first road win in franchise history. Sioux Falls responded with an 11-2 run in under two minutes to take a 97-95 lead. David Bailey found a cutting Reggie Williams for a reverse lay-up to give the Skyforce a 105-103 lead with under a minute to go and the Skyforce came up with a big stop at the defensive end. Bailey made it a two possession game with a shot clock buzzer-beating bucket and the Skyforce held on to win their fifth game in their last six outings.
Steimsma's 10 blocks tied a franchise record and his triple-double was the first by a Skyforce player since Corey Williams' on March 6, 2006. Keith Brumbaugh and Reggie Williams shared team-highs with 22 points apiece and Mike Nelson added a season-high 14 points off the bench.
JameOn Curry scored a game-high 27 points to go along with eight assists. NBA Development League leading scorer Morris Almond contributed 22 points while TJ Cummings (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Major Wingate (11 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles.
Sioux Falls hosts archrival Dakota for the first time this season on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT. Springfield returns home to face the league-leading Iowa Energy on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.
