Chicago Steel News Release
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") announced Monday that Ales Stezka has been named CCM/USHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Oct. 16, 2016 (Week 4). Stezka, 19, has recorded a shutout in each of his two games played this season, including a 35-save blanking of the Madison Capitols in Chicago's 4-0 win Saturday at Fox Valley Ice Arena, helping the Steel remain unbeaten (6-0-0-0) this season. He is the first USHL player at any position to be a repeat winner this season, previously taking home the award in Week 1 (Sept. 26).
Stezka, a 2015 fourth-round (111th overall) selection of the Minnesota Wild, leads the USHL with a perfect 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage, stopping all 59 shots he has faced this season. He also represented his country in net for one game at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland.
