SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Springfield Cardinals dropped the opening game to the Northwest Arkansas Travelers on Tuesday night 7-4. The Cardinals committed three errors and surrendered five unearned runs in the game.

Notables:
LHP Steven Matz threw 35 pitches in 1.2 innings in a rehab appearance. He gave up three hits and five unearned runs while walking one and striking out three.
RHP Giovanny Gallegos also made a rehab appearance. He made 25 pitches in 1.1 innings with a hit, two walks and a strikeout.
After trailing 5-0 after the top of the second, the Cardinals scored four unanswered to trim the lead to one by the fifth inning.
Springfield outhit NW Arkansas 10 to 7.
Springfield played as the "Cardenales", their Copa de la Diversión identity on Tuesday night for the first time this season.
