NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - After tossing 13 shutout innings with 15 strikeouts during that span during his first two starts in a North Adams uniform, SteepleCat sophomore southpaw Scott Squier (Hawaii) has earned NECBL Pitcher of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the league.

Squier, who pitched in the NECBL last summer during a brief stint with the Holyoke Blue Sox, was brilliant over the course of the league's first 10 days, limiting the opposition to six total hits in 13 innings of work while yielding two walks during that span.

In his first outing on Opening Night against Vermont, Squier dazzled over five innings, limiting the Mountaineers to three hits while striking out seven and walking just one before the rains opened up, giving the Phoenix, Ariz., native a five-inning victory on the mound.

Then, after waiting nine days for his next start thanks to Mother Nature canceling four SteepleCat contests in a seven-day span, Squier showed no signs of rust in another tremendous outing at Holyoke on Saturday. The lefty worked eight dominant innings and settled for a no decision during which he fanned eight, walked one and scattered three hits.

Squier sits atop the league leaderboard in strikeouts after two starts, while his WHIP of 0.62 is also tops in the NECBL.
