
Steenhuis Named NLL 'Player of the Week'

BUFFALO, NY (April 25, 2012) --- The National Lacrosse League today announced that Buffalo Bandits transition player Mark Steenhuis has been named NLL "Transition Player of the Week" for Week 16 of the 2012 NLL season after the Bandits defeated the Rochester Knighthawks by a score of 14-9 before a sold-out crowd of 18,690 at First Niagara Center on Saturday.
Steenhuis scored a game-high eight points (4+4), his highest output of the season, to help the Bandits clinch a playoff spot and strengthen their position in the East Division standings.
Steenhuis (12/3/1980, 5'9", 185 lbs.) is an 11-year NLL veteran and seven-time NLL All-Star. The St. Catharines, ON native was named NLL "Transition Player of the Week" earlier this season in Week 11 and NLL "Transition Player of the Year" in 2008.
The weekly player award winners are selected by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
The Bandits travel to the state of Washington this weekend for their regular season finale against the Stealth on Saturday, April 28 at 10:30 p.m. before hitting the road again for the first round of the NLL playoffs on the weekend of May 4-6.
