Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 28)- In a battle of the unbeatens in the northeast Central Hockey League division, the Youngstown SteelHounds defeated the Texas Brahmas 2-1 in a Sunday matinee at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills.

Both teams are coming off of extra period victories from last night. Fatigue could be seen as the game progressed.

The early start meant an early goal for the Brahmas as defenseman Justin Kinnunen slapped a goal past SteelHounds goaltender Andy Franck at the 1:06 mark in the first period. However, 28 seconds later the SteelHounds answered back with one of their own from Shaffer.

In the second period, Brahmas enforcer Robin Big Snake was taken to the ice just as the SteelHounds were on the breakaway. With Big Snake down, the Steelhounds were able to score with a man advantage. Maslonka was credited with the goal despite the Brahmas dispute.

The third period was scoreless, even though the Brahmas pulled goaltender David Cacciola with two minutes remaining in the game.

In the end, the Brahmas overall outshot the SteelHounds 27-24, but it was not enough to overcome the Youngstown SteelHounds offense.

The Brahmas will now take their game on the road for a Wednesday, October 31 match against the Wichita Thunder. The team will return home the season opener rematch against the Austin Ice Bats on Friday, November 2 at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
