Dulle joins team as Hounds remain unbeaten

October 28, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS - The Youngstown SteelHounds had a major shakeup just hours before taking the ice with the Texas Brahmas as Head Coach Kevin Kaminski had signed defenseman Kurtis Dulle.

Dulle was traded to Youngstown from Tulsa as part of the deal that sent Jeff Christian to the Oilers. The native of Craik, Saskatchewan fills the void left by Stephen Margeson who was called up to the American Hockey League.

Kaminski explains the situation saying, "Well with Margeson going up to Lake Erie we needed a sixth defenseman and Kurtis was on his way here so it was a natural fit." As a result Mark Odut did not suit up for the Hounds.

This game started fast and furious as Justin Kinnunen scored at just 1:05 into the game to give Texas a 1-0. The Hounds answered back just 29 seconds later as Chris Shaffer notched his first of the season from Bryan Lachapelle and Adam Smyth to tie the game at one. It became a goaltenders dual after that as Youngstown's Andy Franck and Texas's David Cacciola combined for 48 saves on 51 shots.

The game stayed back and forth as neither team capitalized on a power play opportunity. The Hounds were 0-5 while the Brahmas were 0-6 with the man advantage.

The game winning goal for the Hounds came at 11:21 of the second period as Milan Maslonka scored his first goal of the season and second of his professional career to put the Hounds up for good. The 2-1 victory is the Hounds second straight one goal win in as many nights.

The Hounds are now 4-0-0 (8 points) and have possession of first place in the Northeast Division. The Brahmas are now 3-1-0 (6 points) and in second place in the division. The Hounds are now 9-0-0 lifetime against the Brahmas dating back to the 2005-06 season. This victory ties a team record for most victories to start a season at four.

The Hounds will look to remain undefeated when they take on the winless Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Tuesday night at 8:05 from the CenturyTel Center. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
