John Olver, Head Coach and Vice-President of Hockey Operations of the Idaho Steelheads, is also looking forward to these pre-season tilts. "Between the two teams we have a bunch of players from British Columbia and all of these guys are excited about putting on a good show for their friends and families. ECHL clubs don't carry a huge training camp roster like the NHL so you mostly get to see our starters in these games. So to say they are 'pretty spirited' contests is an understatement," laughed Olver.

Victoria Salmon Kings Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell is excited about the opportunity to step up against the best the ECHL has to offer in the Salmon Kings first ever games. "You can't run and hide in this (the west) division. Some of the best clubs in all of the ECHL are right in our division so we'll get a real test right from the start," says Maxwell. "I like that. It'll build character for these young players," he added.
