Lynx Sign Hajt
September 27, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Defense wins championships, the old saying goes. With the addition of former NHLer Chris Hajt to their lineup for the 2004-05 Season, the Augusta Lynx take another stride towards that end.
Hajt has never played at a level below the American Hockey League in his professional career, including six games in the National Hockey League. Five of those came last season with the Washington Capitals, with a previous contest with the Edmonton Oilers in 2000-01 rounding out his NHL experience. Hajt has spent the majority of his pro career with Hamilton Bulldogs and Portland Pirates of the AHL. The 6-3, 206 lb. rearguard's best season came in 2002-03 with Portland where he tallied 11 goals and 26 points in 71 contests. In all, Hajt has played a total of 370 games as a pro, notching 16 goals and 69 points in all.
"He's a veteran guy who we'll rely on in all areas: even strength, shorthanded situations, and especially on the power play," said Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Stan Drulia. "His tremendous pro experience will help our younger defensemen and our team overall. We expect him to be our anchor on the blue line."
Hajt, whose father Bill played 14 seasons on defense with the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, was drafted in the second round, #32 overall, by the Edmonton Oilers at the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
Augusta now has 19 players signed for the 2004-05 Season. Along with Hajt, Rod Sarich, Jamie Johnson, Matt Dzieduszycki, Steve Munn, Sean Connolly, Terry Marchant, Mark Scott, Jason Saal, Louis Goulet, Todd Bennett, Jarrett Thompson, Treavor Peterson, Lawne Snyder, Dean Jackson, Jeremy Symington, Josh St. Louis, Matt Schmidt, and Lou DiMasi round out the current complement of players. Full and partial season tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4423, or stopping by the office at 712 Telfair St. in downtown Augusta. Fans may also purchase season tickets on the team's web site at www.augustalynx.com. Full season seats start as low as $340 each! Inquire about the LYNX TEN PACK, or ask for information on the Small Business Plan. Welcome to THE YEAR OF THE FAN.
